Today I will install and test the MSG100 Smart Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener and I am happy that you are joining me. The device comes in a small box with all the necessary cables. It includes this sensor cable, this USB power adapter, and the MSG100 module with all the necessary connections. It also includes some double-sided 3M adhesive pads, which should help with assembly. But it makes sense to set up the device's software first. To do this, I connect the module to the power supply. The “Meross” app is downloaded and installed on the smartphone. After opening the app, I log in or create an access with an email address and password. Now we can add our new device. To do this, I tap on the plus sign at the top right and then select the garage door opener from the list. Here I start the setup. The vast majority of gate drives are stored in the software. But even if your drive is not there, you can still use the module. Most gate motors are controlled via contact 1 and 2 with a button. To test this, I open the housing on my gate motor and look for the contacts. So I tap on yes, it works. Now it says: Please connect the module to the power supply. OK, I have already done that. If the LED flashes yellow-green, the module is ready to be connected. OK, that's the case, so let's continue. Now it will take a few seconds. By the way, this app, including the setup, is available in all languages. The app has found the module and I can now enter any name. I'll call it Garage 1. Now the module has to be integrated into the existing WiFi. So I select my home WiFi network and enter the corresponding password. This will take a few seconds and then the software will be fully installed. The Garage 1 button is fully set up. Now I'll connect the MSG100 WiFi module and start connecting it to the motor. To do this, I'll disconnect the motor's power supply for safety reasons. I'll now loosen the screws on connections 1 and 2 to connect the WiFi module parallel to the existing button. OK, that worked without any problems and I'll just put the WiFi module on top of the motor. Next I want to install the sensor. Using this magnetic sensor, I can later see on my smartphone whether the gate is open or closed. When it's closed, the sensor and magnet have to be next to each other. It doesn't matter whether they're in front of each other or next to each other, so you have several options for mounting them. I've found a good place for the sensor here on the middle rail. I'll stick the sensor with a cable to the metal rail, which doesn't move. The sensor magnet goes right next to it and then moves away from the sensor when the gate opens. Press firmly and you're done. The sensor cable is now laid on top of the middle rail to the gate motor. I secure it with adhesive tape, that's just so it doesn't fall down. The sensor cable can be easily plugged into the MSG100 module using a plug. There are still adhesive pads left, which I also use to secure the module to the rail. I roll up the rest of the cable so that it doesn't hang down. Now I'll take care of the power supply. There are still enough adhesive pads for this too. Here I use cable ties to hold the cables together. Everything is now installed and I can put the cover back on the motor. I'm excited to see if the whole thing works as intended. So I open the Meross app and press the button to open the gate. OK, it works perfectly and responds very promptly. You get a status message that the gate has been opened. I also like that you can be notified if the gate is still open after a certain time of day. #meross #wlanopener #smarthome Product sponsored by: Meross GmbH
