Sunday sermon from 2 Kings 5 [5] 1-16 and Luke 5 [5] 12-16, on 10/20/2024, speaker Sotiris Stergios -------------- ----------------------------- Excerpts from the Bible: 2 Kings 5 [5] 1) Naaman, the general of the king of Syria, he was great in the sight of his master and honored, because the Lord through him gave salvation to Syria; and the man was strong in strength, but a leper. 2) And the Syrians went out in ranks and brought a captive from the land of Israel, a little daughter of Tina; and she serves Naaman's wife. 3) And he said to her lady, I wish my lord was before his prophet in Samaria, because he wanted to cure him of his leprosy. 4) And when Naaman came in, he reported to his master, saying, Thus and thus spake the daughter of the land of Israel. 5) And the king of Syria said, Come, go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and they received at his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand gold, and ten changes of raiment; my servant, to heal him of his leprosy. 7) And when the king of Israel read the letter, he crossed his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this one sends me to heal a man of his leprosy? therefore, I beseech you, know, and see that this man is asking for mercy against me. 8) When Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent to the king, saying, Why have you torn your clothes? let him come to me now, and he will know that he is a prophet in Israel. 9) Then Naaman came after his horses and after his chariot, and stood at the door of Elisha's house. 10) And Elisha sent a message to him, saying, "Drop and wash seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will return to you, and you will be cleansed." 11) And Naaman was angry and departed and said, Behold, I said, He certainly wants to come out to me and will stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and move his hand over the land and heal the leper; 12) Havanah and Farfar, rivers of Damascus, are they not better than all the waters of Israel? could I not bathe in them and be cleansed? And you turn, depart after anger. 13) And his servants came near and spoke to him and said: Father, if the prophet wanted to tell you a great thing, wouldn't you want him to do it? how much more now, when he said to you, Wash and be clean? 14) Then he went down and immersed himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his body became like the body of a little child, and he was cleansed. 15) And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and he came and stood before him; and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, I am in Israel; whence now receive, I beseech you , a gift rather than your servant. 16) He said, As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I do not want to accept. They didn't force him to accept, but he didn't. According to Luke 5 [5] 12) And while he was in one of the cities, behold, a man full of leprosy; and seeing Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, saying: Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean. 13) And he stretched out his hand, touched him and said: I want, be cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him. 14) And he ordered him not to say this to nothing, but go, he says, and show yourself to the priest and offer for your purification, as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them. 15) But when the rumor spread about him, and many crowds gathered, to listen to him and be healed of these diseases; 16) he withdrew to the deserts and prayed. --------------------------------------------- Amen
