Complete test of the Alfa Romeo 156 with the 2.5 V6 Busso that belonged to the Agnelli family, in particular the first series model that belonged to Umberto. This is a unique model for its customization, the silver color, its livery composed of black and blue stripes, its accessories, and its history, full of significant moments. So make yourselves comfortable, and welcome back to Macchina Gialla. Doctor Umberto Agnelli, the first owner of this Alfa 156, was born in Lausanne on November 1, 1934, but he tied himself very early and inextricably to the city of Turin, where he completed his studies and began his brilliant career. First the presidency of Juventus, then that of the FIGC, until the appointment as CEO of FIAT in 1970, where he stood out for his innovative spirit and contribution in trying to modernize it. A few years later he left the Turin car manufacturer to return only in 2003 at a time of severe crisis, where he started a corporate recovery plan that was never fully implemented. He was a prominent figure on the Italian scene: entrepreneur, manager, senator of the Republic. The Alfa Romeo 156 was an equally important car for the Biscione company: designed by Walter de Silva and presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1997, it had the onerous task of replacing the 155, introducing a less angular, softer and sleeker, coupé-like design. Its peak was reached in the 2000s, with the 156 GTA equipped with the 3.2 V6 Busso. The greatest technical implementation on the 156 in order to achieve that much sought-after concept of advanced sportiness was the suspension system, very refined. Instead of the classic MacPherson strut at the front, there is a sophisticated high quadrilateral, which makes the drive unique, for a typically sporty setup, but at the same time is able to guarantee great comfort despite the lowered trim. The engine of this Alfa 156 is the 2.5 V6 Busso with 190hp of maximum power, which does not give it exaggerated performance in itself, but gives the best in terms of delivery and sound. The thrust is constant and completely changes tone above 5000 rpm, ensuring a truly unique driving pleasure. The steering is responsive, precise and very communicative. The 6-speed manual gearbox offers precise gear changes even though the lever is long. Externally, the silver livery of this Alfa 156 stands out, chosen by Gianni Agnelli as the unofficial color for all the most important representative cars of the Family. In fact, the legendary Lancia Delta and Ferrari Testarossa Spider of Gianni are of the same color. It also features the typical black and blue piping, which represents the honor of the Savoy Cavalry. The interior of this special Alfa Romeo 156 of the Agnelli family is characterized by the luxury emanating first of all from the heated beige seats and embossed Alfa Romeo logo. Doctor Umberto Agnelli also had it equipped with an Alfa-branded GSM radiotelephone, for the most important calls. An interior preserved to perfection and embellished by the 3-spoke leather steering wheel in Momo Style, and the long lever of the 6-speed manual gear shift. The Agnelli Alfa Romeo, after being used by the family's physiotherapist and passed from hand to hand to his wife who used it incognito in Turin, finally came into the hands of its current owner Yonha Chiarello, who restored it and now safeguards it inside a garage, to preserve its condition and history.
