Gina always suspected that her oldest son, Pedro, was gay, but for a long time she pretended that nothing was happening because of the prejudice she carried with her. Everything changed when Pedro called her to talk and came out. There, Gina understood that she had nothing to fear. She should love, welcome and fight for her son. And that's what she did and still does. Today, Gina is active in the Mães Pela Liberdade movement, a collective that promotes actions in support of families in the LGBTQIA+ community in the state of Minas Gerais. Of course, in an Instagram post or even listening to the full episode of the Podcast with Gina, everything seems simple and easy. But she herself remembers that it wasn't. Gina was resistant for a while, and even asked many times for her children not to be gay. But the incredible thing about her story is that she understood that this difficulty in accepting them was not their problem, but hers. They were just being themselves, she was the one who had a problem. Prejudice. I'm so glad Gina chose to love her children, no matter what. More mothers like Gina!
