Today we will talk about secondary dominants, we will see what alternatives they give us to play with songs, add chords and give them our personal touch. Perhaps the most important thing about secondary dominants is that they help us highlight chords, emphasize areas of the song or sounds that we want to be important. It is a resource that also allows us to make changes in tonalities. With secondary dominants it is possible to move to close tones, since when working on chords and notes of the scale, it allows us to go to tones with zero or a maximum alteration of difference. This is a resource that we will commonly find in songs. Whenever we see a 7th chord that is not part of the scale, it is most likely a secondary dominant.
