Transactional analysis, or the ability to recognize and change the messages of our inner parent, child, adult, is a piece of psychological knowledge that explains and "cures" for us, among other things, the causes of conflicts, ordinary misunderstandings, or lack of negotiation success. Transactional analysis was first described by Eric Berne in the early 1960s. Berne claims that our SELF consists of three people: Parent, Adult, and Child. Parent - is our internal set of rules, commands and prohibitions, instructions (including moral ones). Child - is our internal desire to know, feel, touch, experience something new. The child is hungry for discoveries and sensations. But the child is also a product of disapproval, punishments and negative emotional memories, resulting from confrontation with parental commands. The Inner Child is the part of us in which emotions and feelings are located. Adult - is the part of ourselves that finds a balance between the needs and intense feelings of the Child and the commands and principles of the Parent. The Adult analyzes data between our inner and outer world. He is the one who makes decisions. The purpose of implementing transactional analysis in your own life is to strengthen the Adult, who is sometimes dominated by the Parent or Child. Child dominance occurs when we tend to act impulsively and succumb to strong emotions, without rationally assessing the situation. Examples are: uncontrolled spending money on shopping, frequent love affairs. When our Adult is dominated by the Parent, we then have constant access to a rich source of prejudices, we have limiting, unquestionable beliefs.
