In "How to Cut Logs for Bowl Turning" I show you two options for preparing pieces for bowl turning from raw logs: either with a bandsaw or with a chainsaw. I show you DIY tools that you can therefore make yourself to make these tasks easy and less dangerous. In the case of the bandsaw I explain how to use it while minimizing the risks and show you the use of the cutting carriages (transverse and longitudinal). Then I show you a circle cutting template, simple to make, which allows you to obtain perfect discs. In the case of the chainsaw I explain the risks, in particular that of kickback, and how to avoid it. I show you how to secure the transverse and longitudinal cuts, and how to make an octagonal disc safely. The model of my bandsaw is a RECORD POWER BS 350 EP purchased from Bordet (https://www.bordet.fr/scie-a-ruban-bs... ) The music used: “Covid Come Not Near” by Nat Keefe & Hot Buttered Rum (YouTube Studio, date added August 2020). #woodturning #woodturningtutorial
