After a season of riding and wintering, it's time to check an important safety point: your braking. Are your brake pads in good condition? Do your discs provide you with precise and safe braking? In this 3AS Racing mechanical tutorial, Doc and Simon show you how to change your brake pads and how to change your front brake discs. Steps to change your rear brake pads: • Place your motorcycle on the center stand to relieve the rear wheel (or workshop stand). • Unscrew your pad axle. • Remove your rear wheel. • Push back the pistons of your caliper using a screwdriver. • Mount the new brake pads. • Screw in your rear wheel. Steps to change your front brake pads and discs: 1. Place your motorcycle on the center stand. 2. Loosen the front assembly (wheel, pad axle, brake caliper, brake discs). Relieve your front wheel using a jack. 3. Remove your front wheel. 4. Change your front brake discs respecting the direction of assembly. 5. Change your front brake pads. 6. Mount your front wheel, secure the assembly and then remove the jack. 7. Tighten the assembly definitively once the motorcycle is on its wheels. 8. Loosen the assembly, wheel, pad axle, brake caliper. Once your brake pads and discs have been changed, you will have to break them in for a few kilometers before attacking and pushing your braking.
