Even though you shouldn't and shouldn't compare yourself, I think it's important to sometimes orient yourself in the economic landscape and do a little reality check. Both to be inspired but also to perhaps give yourself a pat on the back. It is important that you are aware that Sweden stopped keeping official wealth statistics in 2007. It is such a big deficiency that there is talk of reintroducing it (SOU2022:51) because today everything is qualified guesswork. I have built the passage from many different sources that point in the same direction, but it is far from a truth or law of nature. I am also aware of the objection to using numbers from e.g. Avanza, Nordnet, Lysa that not everyone has their money right there. But since there is quite a bit of difference in the figures between the actors, these are the best figures we have. With that said, here are some numbers and stats we hope you like! Having said that, below are some of the numbers that stood out to me: 65% of Sweden's population do not have an investment savings account 45% of the population have less than SEK 100,000 in liquid assets (bank account, shares, fund units etc) 30% have less than 4 months total income Over 60% of household wealth is illiquid (read: housing) 53% of the world's population does not have a fortune of USD 10,000 With a total wealth (incl. pension and housing) of over USD 100,000, you belong to the world's 10% richest.
