Let me start by saying that the idea of making a guitar came to me spontaneously. Initially, I wanted to buy something like a Strat, I looked at various Squires, but today's reality is that the cost of a new budget Chinese guitar made of wood starts at 15,000 rubles. Prices on the used market are about the same. Of course, you can find something cheaper, made of MDF, for example, but that's not our way. Then I came across a video on YouTube about making a guitar yourself, and after watching about a hundred videos, I realized that, by and large, there is nothing complicated about all this. Regular carpentry. I'm talking about the deck now, with the neck, everything is a little more complicated, but more on that later. So, the plan was this: buy wood for the deck, buy a ready-made neck, buy fittings and an electronic part, glue, paint, varnish and assemble it all together. After reading forums and watching various videos, I came to the conclusion that the only right option for me for wood is ash. First of all, because of its price and availability. It is available at any carpentry base. And its pattern is simply cosmic. I bought the pickups second-hand on a popular guitar forum. For everything else, there is our favorite AliExpress. In principle, everything went smoothly, not ideal, of course, but I was satisfied with the result. The only thing I would do differently now is varnishing. I would bother and take either polyurethane or acrylic varnish. Nitrocellulose is too capricious, and it dries incredibly slowly. About the neck. Many wrote that the neck could have been made independently. At first I thought so too, but then it turned out that for this you need a good stable piece of maple, a thin mortise saw for cutting frets, the frets themselves, a machine for giving the frets a radius, some kind of press for pressing them in, and very straight hands along with knowledge of the entire theoretical part. So my option is to buy a ready-made neck, which I do not regret at all.
