We cannot understand the nature of the military conflict in #Sudan, between the #Sudanese_army and the #Rapid_Support_Forces, which erupted on April 15, 2023, and caused losses of nearly $200 billion, and witnessed the commission of horrific war crimes and ethnic cleansing, without returning to understand the details of the military coup plotted by Dr. Hassan #Al-Turabi, and carried out by Lieutenant General Omar #Al-Bashir in 1989. The bloody developments in Sudan now are the result of this coup, and even the series of military coups that have occurred in Sudan since the #Abboud_Coup in 1958, that is, only two years after Sudan's separation from #Egypt in 1956. #Ahmed_Mansour, in his interview with Hassan Al-Turabi, on the program Witness to the Era, reviews the roots of the struggle for power in Sudan, when he began thinking about plotting the 1989 coup, the reasons for the constant resort to military coups in this country, how Al-Bashir was recruited, why he was kidnapped on the night of the coup, and how Al-Turabi handed Sudan over to officers he did not know.
