Hookless is a new word for many in the bicycle industry, just like the word gravel recently. This is the name of the technology used to produce bicycle rims. In short, these are rims without a hook that holds the tire in place in the rim. I have great doubts about this technology and their superiority over those rims with a hook that have been around for a long time and are safe. The weight of these rims or wheel sets is encouraging compared to those popular and well-known on the market. As I said in the film, I bought them for their low weight and to write something new. It was already on offer when the word gravel was not so popular and the first very light models with a symbolic hook or without a bun were available in aluminum for a long time. As for the strength of the carbon edges themselves on bottoming out, it is not greater than traditional ones. I also have great doubts about aerodynamics. Putting them on is very difficult due to the lack of a rim and there is a high probability that the tire will shoot out if positioned incorrectly. Not every tire is suitable for such hookless rims and only pid milk TLR. Wolfpack MTB tires are certainly compatible and extremely simple compared to some companies. Tires for inner tubes are completely unsuitable for such hookless wheels. The higher price is also not adequate to the effort that the rim manufacturer must put in, production is simply less complicated. Special attention should be paid to the permissible pressures that are allowed, I am especially sensitive to road wheels. The pressures given on the tires are completely different from the rim strength, which is about 72 psi, the maximum permissible pressure. It is true that in tubeless tires with milk we pump up completely lower values, but our subconscious tells us to pump more. These rims also have advantages because otherwise they would not have gone into production, namely, we gain on the mass of the wheels, which is the most important when accelerating the bike, the rotational mass, without losing stiffness with good spokes, e.g. DT Aerolite. Tubeless tire removal is extremely easy compared to hooked rims, those who already know this know perfectly well. I would also add that the tire with tubeless rims has better traction, because they are automatically wider for lower pressures, using the same rim width for tubeless tires with a hook, traction will be identical. And as for the novelty, the wheel from my video is new from 2018 and whether hookless is new to me, no, but the name itself is. BbvbI would really like to know your experiences and opinions navtemat hookless, because my experiences may be extreme but certainly honest. Despite everything, I choose wheels for training or racing with hooked rims, the commonly known ones. Thank you for all your comments and subscriptions because thanks to them my channel is more popular and contains honest and true opinions.
