There are no plans to close any factories at VW for the time being, but 35,000 jobs are to be cut by 2035. VW and the IG Metall union have agreed on a savings package worth millions. But a look back shows that the switch to efficient cars and electric vehicles has been systematically slowed down, primarily by the disastrous alliance between corporations and politicians.
