Journalist Mônica Teixeira welcomes Professor Luiz Felipe de Alencastro from the São Paulo Law School of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. Alencastro moved to France in the late 1960s, at the age of twenty. He graduated in Political Science from the University of Aix-en-Provence and in History from the University of Paris-Quest Nanterre la Défense. He lived in Paris between 1975 and 1986, where he taught at the universities of Rouen and Paris-Vincennes. Between 1986 and 2000, he taught at the Institute of Economics at Unicamp. Back in France, he was a professor at the University of Paris-Sorbonne between 2000 and 2013. He is the author of, among other books, The Tract of the Living - Formation of Brazil in the South Atlantic - 16th and 17th Centuries.
