The history of Ceará began approximately two thousand years ago, when it is believed that the first humans arrived in the current territory of Ceará. Although it became part of the Portuguese possessions in South America after the signing of the Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494, the territory of Ceará was initially explored by the French, until it was taken over by the Portuguese in the early 17th century. Later, the Dutch conquered a large part of the Northeast Region of Brazil, including the Captaincy of Ceará, which became part of the colony of New Holland in 1637 and remained in that condition until 1654, when it was recovered by the Portuguese. Since the beginning of its colonization, Ceará has been ravaged by numerous droughts, which have left their mark on the history of the state. This contributed to Ceará being one of the least developed states until the mid-20th century, when efficient measures began to be implemented to help the people cope with the difficult periods of drought. From that moment on, Ceará managed to develop more and more and, currently, the state has one of the best qualities of life among all the states in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. In this video, you will understand how this whole process was and how Ceará got to its current situation. Don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel! A hug and see you in the next video!
