This factor, together with the fact that France paid high amounts of war reparations to the new country, ended up boosting the economy and generating euphoria among the German bourgeoisie. They invested not only in the construction of many factories, but also in pompous residences. These presented a style that sought inspiration for their facades in the past. For this reason, the History of Architecture will call this period of the second half of the 19th century, not only in Germany, but also in Western Europe, Historicism or Eclecticism. In Germany, as it is a period that coincides with the founding of many companies, it is very common to use the term Founders' Era. Here in the city, there are neighborhoods that were preserved from the heavy bombings of World War II. Their buildings bear witness to a Berlin before the destruction of the bombs.
