East Frisia is too small for Albert Smidt: at Europe's largest horse market, the horse owner is haggling as hard as he can again after a one-year break. A lot of training is on the agenda in the Volksdorf museum village: Egbert Läufer has to get two oxen fit. There is enough work in the Harz, because Daniel Wehmeyer is taking his bulls to their winter quarters. And the Rolfs family in Dithmarschen are finishing their harvest: Maas Rolfs is collecting the last heads of white cabbage from the field. He has rented a large cabbage cutting machine for the final work. It is not exactly cheap, but it cuts a whole 100 tons of cabbage a day. Albert Smidt is on his way to the Netherlands. Smidt wants to look for new horses with his daughters and granddaughter at Europe's largest horse market. The plan: They want to buy a new school pony and maybe two or three young horses for their riding stable in East Frisia. But Albert unexpectedly buys an exceptional horse. In the Volksdorf museum village, farmer Egbert Läufer has to train with two oxen in the historic gruel mill. An audience is expected at the weekend. The guests want to see how the draft animals drive the mill to grind the grain into grist. In the Harz, Daniel Wehmeyer needs space on his organic farm because the first bulls are to leave the meadow and go to their winter quarters. But over the past six months, Daniel has used the stable as a garage for his machines and as a grain store. There is a tricky moment during the move when the bulls have to get off the soft grass and onto the concrete floor of the stable. ___________________________________________________ Our guidelines for comments: https://www.ndr.de/service/technische... #ndr #ndraufmland #hofgeschichten
