The prophet Habakkuk was active in the days before the Babylonian army invaded Judea (606 - 582 BC). Habakkuk - his name means "embracer, clasp" - was tormented by many questions. In all these troubles he clung tightly to the LORD and came to him in prayer with his concerns. The LORD answered him personally and explained to him his actions throughout the entire history of salvation until the coming of the Messiah as King and Judge of the world.
