Please enjoy the sound of the Toshiba IGBT-VVVF inverter on Tobu Railway's paid express 500 series "Liberty"! Like Seibu's 40000 series, the Liberty has a quiet PMSM sound, and the same sound can be heard on Hankyu and Keio trains. PMSM is suitable for lines with repeated acceleration and deceleration, so I wondered why Tobu chose the expensive PMSM for its express trains.
