Normal route on Gran Paradiso 4061m Valle d'Aosta Those who have followed our stories unfortunately know how it ended. We had to stop just below the summit, near the rocks, because of the very long queue. To combat this phenomenon, on the normal route of Gran Paradiso a route was set up for the ascent and another for the descent, so as not to overlap the flows of climbers who usually created traffic jams just below the Madonnina, where the route becomes exposed on the crest and many slow down to secure themselves. Unfortunately, nothing was done to avoid the endless queue created right at the ascent point where the difficulties increase. When we arrived at the refuge we discovered that some of them had waited more than 2 hours, which was unacceptable for us given the time (we arrived around 10.00), the high altitude and the adverse weather conditions of the early afternoon. We discover the next morning that a roped party, who had reached the top in the late afternoon, had to call the mountain rescue team because they were unable to return due to both the weather and tiredness.... I'll leave the conclusions to you, which I think are clear to everyone. If you want to enjoy the climb, avoid the weekend or leave really early in the morning (max 3:30/4:00) I hope one day to be able to return to fully enjoy the view from above. ????
