When Paul arrived, 3 he lived with them and worked, being tentmakers by trade. 4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. 5 When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was held captive by the word of God and testified to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. 6 But they opposed him and blasphemed him, but he shook out his clothes and said, "Your blood be on your own heads; I am clean; from now on I will go to the Gentiles." 7 He left there and entered the house of a man named Titus Justus, a man who feared God. Now the house was next to the synagogue. 8 Also Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household.
