At the beginning of February we spent a weekend in Italy's capital. This trip had not originally been planned with the Urbex idea in mind, Dani and I had basically given ourselves a Christmas present, we were going to a very special concert that the singer of our favorite band Marillion was going to give in Rome. To be on the safe side, we had packed our archaeology suitcase and so on the last day we went to a place that had always been in the top 10 of my bucket list. A ghost village in the Abruzzo, destroyed by a devastating earthquake in 2009 and deserted for 15 years now. Almost 1000 people disappeared literally overnight. Fate spared no one, whether poor or rich, old or young - they all had to leave their homes. But not only that: the residents did not even have time to pack up their belongings, there was only enough for the bare essentials. What was left was a ghost village where you can't shake the feeling of being the last person on earth. What was different about this exploration: normally we can concentrate on ONE building, but this time we had an entire village at our feet. People's fates happening every minute - an experience that really pushed us to our mental limits. And in the end the police showed up too...
