Many people think that the Baltic countries are similar and almost identical. But this is not true. If you visit Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, you will already have a keen eye, and you will not confuse an Estonian town with a Lithuanian one. So much in common, but so many differences. Kaunas is a city that has become one of the controversial cities-discoveries for me, with no less than in Vilnius, a number of attractions, but without the bustle and gloss of the capital. Even the Lithuanians themselves like to say that Kaunas is very specific. The part of Kaunas that was built at the beginning of the 20th century during independent Lithuania is interesting. Here you have Bauhaus, constructivism, and monumentalism. Unlike Vilnius, which I really liked, and I even want to spend an extra week there in the summer - Kaunas is more controversial. If Vilnius is all licked and restored to the level of the best European cities, then Kaunas is more natural and shabby. This has its own charm.
