A good opportunity to take a closer look at the historic mills in Schleswig-Holstein and to appreciate the commitment of the operators. Many of the mills can be visited. The "Nicola" mill near Schleswig is one of them. It stands on the former barracks site "Auf der Freiheit" and was honored as the best mill of the year in 2022. It has been an intangible cultural heritage since 2018. The mill's flour is sold locally and is also supplied to bakeries in the region.
