Today on Psicoflix we talk about functional analysis and intervention in a case of rumination. Our guest for this episode is Isabel Marchal, psychologist, double Master in General Health Psychology and Master in Assessment and Treatment of Addictions, Master in Psychological Update and Intervention and Mental Health and Master in Contextual Therapies. In today's episode we talk about, among other things: What is the difference between worry and rumination? How can we do a functional analysis of rumination? How to train to discriminate one's own behavior? What to do to identify the discriminative stimuli that trigger rumination? We talk about all these issues with Isabel. We begin by addressing the difference between worry, rumination and automatic thoughts, and how different topographies can acquire the same function and vice versa, how different functions can acquire the same topography. We talk about the functional analysis of a case of rumination, where we see the dispositional variables, the hypothesis of origin and maintenance of the case, and we study each of the behavioral chains. We discuss the intervention in each of the channels and address the common difficulties in working with rumination, as well as the way in which we mold the person so that they learn to discriminate their own behavior, among many other topics.
