Today, at the Talent Garden in Genoa, we officially launched the European Sustainable Mobility Week! A key moment to reflect on how the territory of our metropolitan city can continue to improve public and private mobility, responding to the challenges that await us and improving the integration between the coast and the hinterland. The Metropolitan Councilor delegated to Transport underlined how, thanks to the recent update of the sustainable mobility plan, Genoa is ready to overcome the critical issues of the system and offer increasingly efficient and sustainable solutions for all citizens. Collaboration between the public and private sectors will be essential to achieve these ambitious goals. Significant was the intervention of the President of AMT, Ilaria Gavuglio, who underlined the commitment to the electrification of the Tigullio coastal line and at the same time how the development of Local Public Transport (TPL) has also been encouraged by the revolution in tariff policy. In fact, 2024 will see a 140% increase in season tickets! An extraordinary result that demonstrates the great interest in more accessible and sustainable mobility for all. Focus on the Viamare Project: during the meeting, the Viamare Project was highlighted, one of the most innovative initiatives that the Metropolitan City of Genoa and the Municipality of Genoa are strongly focusing on. This project aims to overcome one of the main critical issues of the metropolitan mobility system, namely the integration between land and maritime transport. The idea behind Viamare is to create a metropolitan mobility system capable of making the most of waterways, offering a valid transport alternative for citizens and tourists, thus helping to reduce traffic on the roads and lower emissions. This not only represents a step forward for sustainable mobility, but opens up new opportunities for economic and tourist growth for the city and the entire territory. The representatives of the Municipalities present at the event underlined how these initiatives demonstrate the ability of the administrations of our territory to adapt to the challenges of the future, focusing on a far-sighted and innovative vision that puts the well-being of citizens and environmental sustainability at the center. “Every small step towards sustainable mobility is a big step towards a more liveable territory” was the key concept underlined several times. Towards a smarter and more sustainable Metropolitan City of Genoa: our commitment does not stop here. We will continue with the implementation of innovative solutions to improve the entire mobility system, increasingly promoting public transport, encouraging the use of bicycles and strengthening projects such as Viamare, which open up new possibilities for multimodal transport. During the meeting, the new edition of the Pedalata Partecipata was also presented, organized on the occasion of the Expo Fontanabuona, Sunday 6 October, a moment dedicated to the active participation of citizens that will involve young and old lovers of two wheels, from Chiavari to Calvari in the Municipality of San Colombiano Certenoli, on a route that follows a good part of the Ciclovia dell'Ardesia, a festive event, but at the same time important to underline the importance of soft mobility and alternative means of transport to the car. ???? The participatory pedal ride aims to be a true symbol of the shared desire to make the territory increasingly green, on a human and bicycle scale. © 2024 Digital Communication Office Metropolitan City of Genoa https://www.cittametropolitana.genova.it #GenovaMetropoli Subscribe to our channel to stay up to date: http://bit.ly/subcittametropolitanadi...
