Three villages are "lost" between two borders - Ukrainian and Belarusian. 20 years ago they were erased from all maps. Dozens of kilometers of virtually no-man's-land Polesie remain. De jure, the villages are Ukrainian, de facto, they are located outside the checkpoint. There is no village council, no store, no school, no post office, no pharmacy. But people live here. Three dozen of those who were never able to leave their native lands. The road to the villages lies through the checkpoint, forest and off-road. The head of the Rudnyansky village council, to which the cut-off villages supposedly belong, travels to those lands several times a week, 30 kilometers away. Regular meetings with border guards and customs officers on the road are much more pleasant than with wild wolves and wild boars.
