Using electro-acoustic cümbüş, çağlama, bass and drums on stage, Yasak Helva draws inspiration from the Anatolia, Balkans, Middle East and Caucasus regions in their music, while occasionally making references to the classics of the jazz and rock world. The band, which quickly gained attention with its energy and concept, took the stage at the fourteenth Tunisia Carthage Jazz Festival in 2019, the Sziget Festival, one of the most important music festivals in Europe, and the Istanbul Jazz Festival in 2020. Yasak Helva, who took part in the Turkish Psychedelic compilation album Saz Power, released in Europe, America and Japan in 2018, with her interpretation of Silifke Zeybeği, released her first album Rektefe in fall 2019.
