For this reason I kneel before God! We saw in the first video that the reason that led Paul to kneel before God is the church. Paul was concerned about the church! Paul was concerned about the people of God! Paul was concerned about the church (the people of God)! And the first reason for Paul's prayer for the church was: that the church would be filled with the power of God! But when he gets to verse 17 of Ephesians 3, PAUL PRESENTS THE SECOND REASON FOR PRAYING FOR THE CHURCH. And the second reason is: THAT THE CHURCH WOULD DEEPEN IN THE LOVE OF GOD, verse 17 tells us, and so Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, being rooted and grounded in love. A tree needs deep roots to be firm, and to find the necessary nutrients and produce fruit! The Christian needs to be rooted in the love of Christ! So that he may be firm and produce fruit for the glory of God! So too, a building needs to have a good foundation! The most important part of a building is the foundation! It needs to be deep for there to be security! Therefore, we need to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ! Paul 1Co 13.13 – tells us that love is the main virtue of a Christian! V. 13 - And now abide faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Without love we cannot even be called Christians! For the Bible says that God is love! Love must be the motivation for us to do all things (at work, in the family, in church work, serving our brothers...)! Paul says - love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13.10). He who loves does no harm to his neighbor! He who loves forgives! He who loves blesses! He who loves, if necessary, turns the other cheek! In the Gospel of Matthew 5:44-45, Our Lord says the following words: ... love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may become children of your heavenly Father! In other words, there are no limits to love! True children of the heavenly Father love! We live in a world where evil, violence, selfishness and a spirit of revenge prevail. If you are a Christian, get on your knees before the Father and pray that you and all of God's people may be rooted and grounded in love! The world needs God! The world needs to know God's love through His church! May God bless us. May God help us, amen!
