Legend has it that the Emerald Buddha was created at the city of Pataliputra in India, but traces of the Emerald Buddha's art are not like that. We have found art in the same style as the Emerald Buddha in many temples in Phayao Province. And what is interesting is a sandstone Buddha statue at Wat San Salit in Chiang Rai Province. Various pieces of evidence have made us know that in reality the Emerald Buddha was created in the Lanna region and is likely only about 500 years old, not 2000 years old as previously believed.
