14:9 version. Original version: @EverydaycultureintheRhineland • Fishing on the Moselle. Part 1: Stel... Kröv 1982 –28 min Recording: Gabriel Simons; Editing/Commentary: Alois Döring The throwing net is a lasso-like net that is used in a kind of stealth hunt for stationary fish that are lured to certain feeding places. In the coupling net, a tightly tied net bag hangs between two poles; with this fishing device, the fishermen organize real hunts for stationary fish under the bankside bushes. Since these tried and tested fishing devices have become largely unsuitable, the last Moselle fishermen now use the gill net; it consists of a self-catching mesh wall placed across the current. ▬ Information about us ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History For almost five decades we have been capturing everyday life in the Rhineland in moving images. We are now the only scientists in Germany who use the medium of film specifically for research and presentation. The approximately 260 film productions created in the past decades are irreplaceable documents of lost knowledge from agriculture, crafts, industrial work and the diverse regional customs. Today we use the medium of film primarily to document current processes of change and to accompany people in the Rhineland in their life contexts. This results in films on intercultural phenomena and problems, on the changing world of work, on new forms of social coexistence and on dealing with rituals, customs and traditions. All film documentaries from the LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History are also available on DVD. The complete film catalog can be found on our homepage under Everyday Culture - Films. ► https://rheinische-landeskunde.lvr.de
