• Route: park at the base of the Fontari chairlift at 1,934m (Campo Imperatore). Climb off-trail to Sella di Monte Aquila (2,335m), then to Sassone (2,560m). From there, via ferrata to the Bafile bivouac (2,669m). Return via the same via ferrata and climb via the Direttissima to Corno Grande Vetta Occidentale (2,912m). Descent via the normal route • Distance: approximately 14 km (loop) • Difference in altitude: approximately 1,600 m, 1,934 m to 2,912 m • Equipment: helmet, climbing gloves, boots with climbing zone, via ferrata kit • Level: EEA/via ferrata and mountaineering trail with sections up to II+.
