Description see down First of all: what they have put together and demonstrated there is quite remarkable. I have never seen anything like it before. The “Schortefeldbahn” Ilmenau hosted the 2019 field railway meeting. What I missed was marketing and information for visitors about this great event. There were no signs whatsoever on the access road. They probably relied on the fact that every visitor from out of town had a good sat nav. The railway, together with the “Volle Rose” show mine, belongs to the town of Ilmenau, which probably financed the whole thing, as there was no entrance fee and the interesting tours were free. They also did not want to sell visitors sausages at lunchtime for a fee, as the exhibitors were to be fed first. A website about this event is still being worked on one day after the event. According to a flyer on the internet, the locomotive parade with around 50 vehicles was to take place at 2 p.m. The "Ilmenau locomotive parade" consisted of all operational vehicles being lined up in a row and interested guests being led past the vehicles with explanations. I wasn't the only one standing in a good photo spot. There were several of us waiting for the parade. At around 3:15 p.m. our "photo group" broke up. At the "locomotive parade" we had reached the third or fourth vehicle by around 3:30 p.m. The reason for this type of parade was that the only megaphone that was available was not working. I am interested in railways without having any special knowledge, but I always combine it with my passion for filming. This way I get to places I would never get to without this combination. That's why this "locomotive parade" was more than unsatisfactory. I found the information about this event on the "Feldbahner.de" website. The question I have at the end is whether this event was only intended for the participants and not for visitors? The 2019 Feldbahntreffen (Field railway meeting) was situated at the tourist mine “Volle Rose” near Ilmenau in the Free State of Thuringia in a forest, which looks very beautiful in the sunshine. In my counting nearly 100 locomotives, including 3 steam locomotives were presented. I had never seen anything like this before at field railway yards. Visitors can take one steam train around the area. I was glad to visit this meeting in Ilmenau. At the end of the film you can see how DB (German Railway) handles history railway wagons. Shame.
