I think that, for the friends of the Calabro Lucane Railways, it will be a show. In August 1991, the FCL Depot (since January 1990 it has become FC) ... is an open-air museum. In the roundabout with a turntable, the recently recovered steam locomotive FCL 353, Borsig year 1926. I quote at random: the yellow-red, very modern M4 C 352 Fiat, natural adhesion + rack; rows of grey wooden wagons: the red hydraulic diesel LM4 601, Ferrosud Matera 1974; the diesel shunting LM2 753, Greco 1984; next to it is the ... Forge. Rows of 'scrap': steam locomotive FCL 506 ex rack; stainless steel railcar Piaggio C m2 from 1937; flatbed with yellow crane; snowplough Rolba SM2 2972 from 1973. In the cabin of the Breda-Ferrosud M2 221 from 1973, we travel along the junction that takes us to the Cosenza Centro terminus. Large yard, disc signal, old fixed crane, beautiful green FC DMcm 2904 luggage van, flatbeds, various wagons. A beautiful Inox Piaggio from 1937 and a smaller Inox from 1936. Adjacent to the FC terminus, the abandoned, desolate yard of the FS, which no longer reaches Cosenza Centro. We set off, in the cabin, for S. Giovanni in Fiore, a long journey on the Ferrosilana. We travel along the brand new double-track section, only 950 mm gauge. FC, 2650 m. on the left bank of the Crati, up to Vaglio Lisi, where the FS stops in the large, brand new, immense station. We leave in the cabin of train 109 for Redipiano which then, out of service, will take us back to S. Pietro Guarano. The iron bridge over the Crati is beautiful, where it joins with the Busento. We pass the monument in the place where the Bandiera Brothers were shot and we are in Cosenza Casali. All curves and tunnels and here is the beautiful station of Pedace, where there is the branch for Catanzaro. We go up; Magli stop, wonderful views, Casole Trenta, a helical tunnel, the station of Serra Padace. Spezzano Piccolo, Spezzano della Sila, carriages set aside, Celico, only curves, viaducts, tunnels; Rovito and carriages at rest, wreckage at Lappano, and we go down towards S. Pietro in Guarano. Then ... what viaducts! The climb begins again, even over 60 per thousand; at Redipiano the ride ends. We return, out of service, to S. Pietro, where, set aside since 1973, there is the snowplough SR 2961, Rolba from 1956. Manoeuvres and transits, then we leave, still in the cabin, for S. Giovanni with train 111. Santo Janni, Fondente, coniferous forests, pass tunnel and . the railway becomes Alpine! Camigliatello Silano, and we enter the Silano Plateau. At S. Nicola we are in the highest station in Italy: 1402 metres. At Km. 76, the terminus of S. Giovanni in Fiore ... and the M2 229 + M2 221 can rest.... See you next time: Catanzaro-Cosenza and Cosenza Vaglio Lisi, with the vehicles of the discontinued Paola-Cosenza.
