By staging "Fathers and fathers", Atelje 212 opted for a new dramatization of this important novel by Slobodan Selenić, made by Nenad Prokić (the previous one was made by Petar Marjanović). The premiere was performed in Sombor on April 20, 1990, since the adaptation of the theater building in Lola Ribara Street was still underway at that time. In Belgrade, the premiere was finally held in the new building on June 5, 1992, and the play was filmed for television in 1996. Criticism has reservations about the dramaturgical and directorial moves in the realization of Selenić's prose, emphasizing that they did not deepen the personal fate of the hero of this work and that the tragic fate of the Medaković family remained somewhere in the unequivocal interpretation. Still, the performances of Đuza Stojiljković as Stevan Medaković, Tanja Bošković as Elizabeta, Tihomir Stanić as young Stevan, as well as the performance of the large ensemble Atelje 212 are remembered.
