A 47-year-old German tourist slipped on the snow while crossing Bystrý sedlo and injured her leg. Her colleague went back to get help. He arrived at the FIS Hotel on Štrbské Pleso and the receptionist alerted the Mountain Service. At that moment, the fateful moment of the nine first-class guys was fulfilled. What actually happened? After a futile search for the injured tourist, the helicopter crew decided to continue searching in the area below Capí ples. While trying to approach the terrace of the tar, there was a sudden gust of wind, the tail part of the machine fell. The helicopter broke apart and its front fell into the abyss. The fuel tanks exploded upon hitting the rock. The twenty-fifth of June 1979 became the blackest day of the Mountain Service. Seven people died, two were seriously injured. The tourist, for whom the rescuers flew, returned to the hostel on her own.
