The plane was sluggishly accelerating on the runway, the engine power was insufficient. The Boeing 737 could only travel one kilometer in the air and crashed from a height of 100 meters onto a bridge and then into the icy Potomac River in Washington. The airliner was de-iced before departure, but its wings, engines, and important sensors were still icy during takeoff. Why was Air Florida Flight 90 unable to climb to a safe altitude from the snowstorm? What series of mistakes and inattentions on the ground led to the disaster?
