On August 3, 2019, 01 118 drove a special train for the Frankfurt Historical Railway for the last time. Reinforced with Rheingold Express carriages from the FEK, 01 118 drove the special train FD Rheingold on the right bank of the Rhine to Cologne and on the left bank of the Rhine back to Frankfurt/Main Südbahnhof. For this trip, the 4 HEF carriages of the type BM234 were supplemented by 7 more carriages from the FEK - Rheingold Express carriages from 1928 and 1962, including observation cars and humpback dining cars as well as the two operational 1928 carriages (1st class saloon car and 2nd class compartment car). At the end of the train was 140 003-5, which was needed to supply the cars with electricity. In Frankfurt, a music student played a farewell song on the violin on the platform. The HEF team gathered in front of 01 118 for a farewell photo. With very loud whistles, the locomotive said goodbye to all passengers and disappeared in the direction of the club grounds. 01 118 was sold to a private collector a few years ago. The club could no longer pay the high repair costs for the tender plus the upcoming general inspection. With the sale of the locomotive to a private collector, who made the locomotive available to the club for special trips, the locomotive could be used for special trips for another 6 years. 01 118 set off on what was probably its last journey on August 4, 2019. It drove the route to the owner under its own power. There it is maintained in an air-conditioned hall (not open to the public). More photos of the last trip can be found at http://www.jarke.de/?155
