Extreme weather events are a reality. They are here to stay. According to a report by the World Meteorological Organization, 12 extreme weather events were recorded in Brazil in 2023 alone, nine of which were considered unusual and two were unprecedented. Critical situations that we previously only saw in other countries are now also recurring in Brazil. The seminar, therefore, aims to bring to the table the exchange of experiences with extreme weather events and their impacts on electricity grids. International experiences will be shared by Michael Spoor and Grant McEachran, North American experts in extreme events. Quality information, data and facts are essential for a structured, technical and productive debate for both the electricity sector and society.
