After attending Heian High School (now Heian High School attached to Ryukoku University) and Meiji University, he joined the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2007. In 2014, he transferred to the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. In 2017, he decided to retire from active play due to the effects of his chronic condition, hypothyroidism.
