It borders the town of Villa Albertina, and the Villa Independencia neighborhood, with the La Matanza district and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. According to data from the 2010 census, its population is 185,428 inhabitants. Location of Ingeniero Budge in Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires The lands of Budge border the southern bank of the Riachuelo. The rectification and channeling works undertaken by Luis Huergo at the end of the 19th century promoted its development. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was relatively promoted for its easy access from the City of Buenos Aires through the Floresta Tram, whose terminal was at Puente de la Noria. On April 18, 1909, the Society for the Promotion, Instruction, Mutual Aid and Recreation was formed. On November 4, 1906, the company Fiorito y Cía auctioned off four thousand lots, with ample payment facilities. On June 15, 1909, the board of directors of the Buenos Aires Midland Railway determined that the La Noria station would take the name of the person who had been the first president of the Railway Company, Engineer Oliverio Budge. In 1930, the construction of the La Noria Bridge improved communications with the Federal Capital and a few years later, the installation of bathing resorts attracted bathers for two decades. Around 1960, the Dr. Ricardo Gutiérrez Hospital was founded, today called the Dr. Oscar Alende Hospital and around 1980, the Local History Museum. On December 15, 1994, through Provincial Law No. 11,585, enacted on January 5, 1995 and published in the Official Gazette on January 23, 1995, Ingeniero Budge was officially declared a City.[1] Ingeniero Budge is located less than 5 meters above sea level. This condition, coupled with the lack of drains, causes recurrent flooding in the area. According to data from 2000, only 26% of the streets were fully paved. With the channeling works of the Arroyo del Rey and its relief channels, it is expected to solve the flooding problems and are carried out together with new asphalt, in 2012 there are more than 50% of paved streets. It has two secondary schools: EES N.º 24, with a focus on social sciences, and EES N.º 209, with a focus on economics and management, both with a Baccalaureate plan for adults. The city has 10 public and 7 private educational establishments. In 1988, the Félix Luna Library was founded, which has more than 1,000 volumes. The neighborhood's train station, Estación Ingeniero Budge, is no longer operational.
