#ArchitectureDesign #InternationalProjects #ArchitecturalRestoration Elio Di Franco, architect, in conversation with Agostino Poletto, General Manager of Pitti Immagine, in a meeting hosted by Patrizia Scarzella. This is an open dialogue between a designer and his client. The protagonists of this Design Lesson are Elio Di Franco, an architect based in Florence, and Agostino Poletto, Pitti Immagine. Di Franco, very active at an international level, carries out projects in the USA, Luxembourg, Scotland, Turkey and Japan. Alongside numerous private residences, he is also active in the design of public buildings. In Florence, he is responsible for, among other things, the restoration of the Palaffari by Pierluigi Spadolini, a landmark from the 1970s, which has once again become a central element for the city's trade fair system. We also discuss the Dynamo Camp project, inaugurated in the summer of 2007 in Limestre, in the province of Pistoia, the first Italian summer camp designed to host children and young people with serious or chronic illnesses in therapy and in the period following hospitalization. The structure was built on an area previously occupied by the industrial buildings of SMI (Società Metallurgica Italiana). Measure, respectful stylistic choices, love for fluid spaces, for the play of transparency and some contemporary grafts are among the keys to understanding his refined and elegant projects. Design, although not a priority in his career, is another interesting aspect of his story, which further clarifies his identity. In the dialogue with Agostino Poletto, a special client with whom he has established a lasting professional and friendly relationship, two parallel levels are explored: the dual aspect of Di Franco's temporary public projects for Pitti and, in the private sphere, the common domestic vision that led him to realize the project for Poletto's home.
