This is a story about a trip to one of the largest high-mountain lakes in the Elbrus region - Lake Syltrankol. Syltrankol translates as a beautiful lake. You can go to the lake and back in one day. But you need to take into account that the length of the route one way is 10 km, and the altitude gain is 1600 m. The lake is located at an altitude of 3180 meters and non-acclimatized travelers may experience symptoms of altitude sickness. If you want to see the lake wrapped in ice, go there in June. By mid-July, the ice melts. But the water temperature does not rise above 4-8 degrees. If you plan to stay in these picturesque places longer, there are all the conditions for this.
