ECVM Part 1 - a disease with many faces Many horses suffer undetected from the congenital malformation of the cervical and thoracic spine. The range of ECVM symptoms and abnormalities is huge and almost all symptoms can also be caused by other diseases or weak points. It is even more difficult to make a suspected diagnosis of ECVM when compensation or overload symptoms have already occurred, which are considered to be the primary cause, e.g. tendon damage, fatigue from carrying.
