Nairi Pelteyan met Grigoris Iliopoulos, an urban forager in Athens. Grigoris harvests fruits and herbs from public spaces for personal consumption. He collects everything from bitter oranges in his neighborhood to salt in makeshift salt pans in Attica. Foraging is not something that only happens in our country, as many people around the world, but mostly in Europe, engage in it. For them, the city has a different map, one that shows the productive plants and trees. Starting from his neighborhood, Peristeri, Grigoris showed us which plants he collects the fruits from, while later we met with the group of foragers he organizes. At the same time, we sent samples to a food analysis laboratory to check the safety of consuming fruits that grow in Athens.
