Turning your hobby into a career and earning a lot of money with it: This dream has come true for Julian Lorenz (23). He is a mechanical engineer at BMW - one of the largest automobile companies in Germany. Julian laid the foundations for his career at BMW early on: He completed his training as an industrial mechanic, including a technical college entrance qualification, at the car manufacturer. The concept is abbreviated to DBFH, and the technical college entrance qualification is also integrated into the vocational training. Julian then studied mechanical engineering at the FH in Landshut. During his practical semester in China, he became aware of 3D printing. And that brought him to his current job: At BMW, he models parts in the 3D printer for the gripper robots in production. So he doesn't work directly on the cars :) Since July 2020, Julian has been a mechanical engineer at the BMW headquarters in Munich. He wants to do his master's degree in Darmstadt soon, alongside his job. So he is not giving up his job in Munich. He says that this means all career options are open to him. His salary is already impressive for a 23-year-old newcomer to the job. BWM offers many additional payments, which means that you end up with almost 15.5 months' salary. In his free time, the Lower Bavarian native enjoys being active: skiing, wakeboarding or riding his motorbike. What else does he spend his money on? See for yourself in the latest episode of “Is it worth it?” More answers can be found in the pinned comment. Julian also comments diligently and answers many questions, e.g. in this comment: • Earning good money at the car manufacturer: That's cri... --- This is “Is it worth it?”: One person, one job, one life. And in the end the question: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their careers and show their lives. Is it worth working for a salary and using it to finance your own life? What makes me happy about my job? We don't just compare salaries, we show how people live from their work. We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, you are welcome to write to [email protected]! On a personal note: We are not infallible either - and although we make every effort to present every individual financial situation clearly, correctly and understandably, we sometimes need help. The Bavarian State Association of Tax Advisors and Auditors always provides us with competent support in this regard - thank you very much for that!
