NIOZ presents a VR experience that allows you to visit a medieval Zeeland village, which is now partly buried under the mudflats. From 6 November 2021, the VR experience can be viewed in the OosterscheldeMuseum in Yerseke and online. In collaboration with Zeeland filmmaker Klaas van de Ketterij and presenter Peter Sijnke, a mini-documentary has been developed about the project. At various locations in Zeeland, the documentary shows the remains of the drowned villages and peat extraction, but also the current fishing industry. The VR world of the drowned village and the film can be viewed on the new website zeeuwsetijdreis.nl. This project is financed by the Samenwerkende Maritieme Fondsen, the Province of Zeeland and the Municipality of Reimerswaal, within the framework of the Geopark-in-formation De Schelde Delta.
