BRIEF HISTORY of ORGAN Built by Abraham Meere (Utrecht) for the Roman Catholic Schuilkerk in IJsselstein. The organ is moved to this church and serves there until 1907. In this year the organ is sold to the organ dealer Mart Vermeulen in Woerden. He expands the organ with an upper work and makes the pedal independent. In 1910, the organ was purchased by the Reformed Church in Urk and placed in the Bethel Church. Despite two unsuccessful restorations, the condition of the instrument deteriorated. During the restoration in 2011/12, the reeds and mixtures from 1987 were replaced by new ones. The front and the organ case were restored to their original state, but several later extensions were retained. Stef Tuinstra was the advisor during the work. In this documentary, Jan Koelewijn and Willem van Twillert trace the construction history and organ-making by MEERE through a dialogue. Jan Koelewijn examines Abraham Meere's organ-making method in detail. Jan first talks about the front and then he shows various organ pipes in detail and tells about them. While Jan discusses specific registers with an organ pipe in his hand, Willem plays a short improvisation on this register. The windchests are also open to looking into. Finally, we also take a look at the bellows room with Han van der Horst, also an employee of Orgelmakerij Reil.
