The Historic Stadiums series lands in Santos, in Vila Belmiro, the home of the greatest athlete of the century, King Pelé. The Urbano Caldeira Stadium is the first private stadium that is wholly owned by a football club. Four years after the founding of Santos Futebol Clube, the Sports Square, the name by which the stadium was known before receiving its official name, Estádio Urbano Caldeira, was inaugurated on October 12, 1916. Over time, the Santos Field came to be known by the name of the neighborhood where it was built, Vila Belmiro. In its years of existence, the home of the black and white Santos team has witnessed unique scenes on its field. It has seen 288 goals scored by Pelé, who is still the stadium's top scorer, and has also seen the birth of the boys from Vila. In addition to Pelé, stars such as Pepe, Clodoaldo, Robinho and the most recent, Neymar Jr., have emerged on its pitches and conquered the world of football. This is the centennial Vila Belmiro stadium, home to Santos. The stadium of King Pelé. A story of much love and perseverance that we present here in the Historic Stadiums series.
