❚ Architectural Exploration House 🏡 I Do Art at Home ❚ Broadcast on June 4, 2024 Gyeonggi Icheon, a house located on the 'Sabujak Road' where artists live together. Today's main character is a solid-looking exposed concrete house. Opening the large gate-like door is Yeo Kyung-ran, a potter who expresses the lives and fortune-telling of the common people through folk paintings called 'common people's art'. It may seem like it has a fancy exterior because it is an artist's house, but in reality, it is just as it was without the mold. There is a three-color light used as a barbershop mark, but there is no logo, and only wires stick out where the sign is. It may seem shabby, but in reality, it is a house that perfectly matches the architect's planning intention. The simple exterior that takes advantage of the material's properties allowed the works inside to shine even more. The first thing you see when you open the large door is the showroom. The space where Yeo Kyung-ran's works are displayed is long, and the studio with the kiln is located on one side. A space where various works are displayed, from Yeong-hee, who dreams of a life of luxury and luxury, to simple everyday porcelain that can be found in her grandmother’s cupboard. The owner put a lot of thought into making the simple antique furniture that she used in her previous studio blend well with this place. She tried wallpaper with bold patterns, and finished the floor with wooden flooring taken from a closed school! Small furniture was connected to create a large block so that it would not lose its presence even in the high-ceilinged showroom. The interior, which coexists with roughness and glamor, is said to be a space where artist Yeo Kyung-ran’s sensibility stands out, combining with the physical properties of concrete. Artist Yeo Kyung-ran’s living space is on the second floor! You can find it after taking the elevator and passing her personal studio. The main space is a large dining table and kitchen where ten people can eat together. But the most striking thing is the large palm tree right at the entrance!? The owner raised the ceiling for this tree and even built a skylight. And instead of planting it in a flowerpot, he planted it in the ground… The ground was dug so that the tree could put down enough roots, securing a soil depth of 60cm. The reason why palm trees were planted is because the meaning of this space is 'rest'. The owner, who dreamed of a moment of rest under a palm tree in a warm country, made a bold choice for healing. Since the studio is his home, the owner spends a lot of time at home. So, he dreamed of a space where he could live as a potter in the studio and relax comfortably after work as if he were on vacation. The owner created a tatami room that contained memories of his first overseas trip to Japan, a spacious bathroom like a hotel with a view of the horizon connected to a 7m water tank, and an outdoor space open to the front and back, so he always feels like he's on vacation. Thanks to the tall birch trees, the green leaves of the trees can be seen from all the windows on the first to third floors, making this house a place that can constantly inspire the artist. The house of potter Yeo Kyung-ran, who makes everyday life like a trip. We explore her unique space of inspiration and rest. #ArchitectureExplorationHouse #Exposed_ConcreteHouse #Single-family_House_Interior #HouseBuilding #CeramicistHouse #Yeo Kyung-ran #Hotel-likeHouse
